Overview
Stay on top of new reviews that matter most by setting up a Reviews feed alert. You’ll get notified whenever a new review matches your selected filters — directly in Slack, Telegram, or by email.
In this article, you’ll learn how to create and manage Reviews feed alerts, reply to reviews, and apply additional filters to refine your notifications.
Set Up a Smart Alert
To find information on how to set up any alert, check out the following article: Alerts: Create and Edit
- Open the Alerts & reports section in the left-hand navigation panel.
- Choose the app for which you want to set up an alert.
- Select the Reviews feed alert.
- Configure the rules and conditions. Available conditions include Language, Rating, Review type, Rating change, and Semantic tags.
- Select the channel where you want to receive the alert: email, Slack, or Telegram.
- Add a Slack channel or enter webhook options:
- Basic: Straightforward connection, no extra steps needed, works without our alert bot.
- Advanced: Requires our alert bot to be set up to work and provides advanced functionality such as replying to reviews.
Note: Select “Set alert daily” to receive one daily batch of all new reviews. If not selected, alerts are sent in real time, with a possible delay of up to one hour. - Choose an Alert name and review your settings.
- Click "Save" to create the alert.
Reply to a Review via Email
At the moment, it’s not possible to reply to reviews directly from an email alert. If you'd like to respond, you'll need to click the permalink in the alert, which will take you to the AppFollow platform where you can reply.
If your workflow requires replying directly from your inbox, we recommend using our older Email Integration feature. This option still supports replying to reviews via email.
You can find more details and setup instructions here: Email Integration.
Reply to a Review via Slack
To be able to respond to a review, make sure to connect the Reply to Reviews connection for the corresponding app:
Once you've checked that the connection is in place:
- Add the AppFollow Slack Bot app to your Slack account.
- Make sure @appfollowbot or @appfollow_review_upda is in the channel where you receive your reviews.
- When you receive a review in Slack, the Reply to Review button will be displayed under the notification.
- Click on the button to add a reply.
Reply to a Review via Telegram
To be able to respond to a review, make sure to connect the Reply to Reviews connection for the corresponding app:
Once you've checked that the connection is in place:
- Create a new Telegram group chat where you will receive your app's reviews. We recommend creating a separate group specifically for replying to reviews instead of using an existing one. This will ensure that an unintended reply is not sent to an end-user.
- Open the chat settings > Edit > Administrators (you should have admin rights to do this).
- Add @appfollow_reply_bot to Administrators.
- To disable the ability to reply, please activate the corresponding setting. Otherwise, if the Reply to Reviews connection is set up for the corresponding app in the workspace, all comments can be considered as replies.
- You're done! If you need to go back and find the Chat ID at any point, click "Start" (or type /start) to get the Chat ID.
