Overview
The new Google Play Connection method is not available. It will be launched in the second half of August 2022.
The Reply to Reviews (aka "Reviews & Replies") integration with Google Play Console via invitation is the new preferred alternative to the Service Account method. It's easier to set up, and it doesn't require access to your Google Developer owner's account (the "Admin" role will suffice).
Once added, it allows you to reply to positive and negative reviews, report spam or inappropriate reviews directly from AppFollow, track app downloads on the Traffic Channels Analytics page, as well as get valuable insights on the Organic Traffic Dashboard and Keyword Intelligence pages.
Access to various features is regulated by Google Play Console Roles. Learn more about the roles below in this article: Google Play Console Permissions.
Connect your Google Play Developer account to AppFollow
To set up this integration, invite AppFollow to your Google Play account. Here's how:
-
- Open your Google Play Console.
- Open the "Users and permissions" section and click "Invite New User":
- Enter android2022b@appfollow.io and set the permissions to
- "View app information and download bulk reports (read-only)
AND - "Reply to reviews".
- "View app information and download bulk reports (read-only)
- Click "Invite User":
Now you're ready to set up the integration in AppFollow:
- In your AppFollow account, open the Integrations page from the left-hand navigation menu, in the app picker at the top of the view, select the Google Play app you need to integrate and click "Add Integration."
- Select the app you want to integrate from the dropdown at the top of the page.
- In the integration pop-up window, click "Start".
- Enter your Developer account ID. To find it, open Google Play Console, and navigate to "Account details". You'll see your Developer account ID below:
- Copy the ID and paste it into the integration pop-up window in AppFollow.
- Click "Next".
- Make sure you've invited AppFollow to your Google Play account and click "Next."
- On the final step, click "Add Integration."
- You're done! Wait a bit for the data to sync, and enjoy your reports.
Google Play Console Permissions
If you want to set up a specific integration instead of the all-in-one integration, you can choose a different set of roles.
Integration | Google Play Permissions |
Full access integration |
View app information and download bulk reports (read-only) |
Reply to Reviews and Report concerns | Reply to reviews |
ASO Report (access to analytics) | View app information and download bulk reports (read-only) |
For the integration to work, you should provide the exact sets of roles that are specified in the table above. If a role is missing, we will be unable to set up the integration.
