Reviews about pricing, ads, and subscriptions tend to get lost in your general feedback, even though they affect revenue directly. They also need different responses: someone who thinks the app is too expensive needs something different from someone who doesn't understand what they paid for. Your AI assistant can pull these reviews into their own stream and sort them by what's actually wrong. In this article, you'll learn what this request returns, how to ask for it, and how to read the three complaint types.
Overview
When you ask about monetization, your assistant pulls every review that touches money, such as subscriptions, price, ads, in-app purchases, or paywalls, and returns:
- Weekly volume and sentiment for these reviews, separate from the rest of your feedback
- The change around your last pricing or offer update, when you tell the assistant the date
- Complaints split into three types, each with quotes from real reviews
This is a read-only request. Nothing in your account changes.
The three complaint types
| Type | What users are saying | What it usually needs |
|---|---|---|
| Too expensive | The price isn't worth what they get | A look at pricing, plans, or how you communicate value |
| Unclear what I paid for | They paid but don't see the benefit, or a purchase didn't activate | Clearer plan details, or a support follow-up |
| The free experience got worse | More ads, or features moved behind a paywall | A review of ad frequency or what's included for free |
The split is based on what each review actually says, so you see the words your users used, not just a category name.
How to ask
Once AppFollow MCP is connected to your AI assistant, you can ask in plain language. For example:
Track what players say about pricing, ads and the battle pass as its own feed, separate from everything else.More things to ask
- "All reviews mentioning 'subscription' or 'refund' in the last 30 days, grouped by complaint type."
- "Did monetization complaints rise after 6.2 shipped?"
- "What's the average rating of reviews that mention price, vs our overall average?"
- "Compare ad complaints in our app vs [competitor] over the last 60 days."

F.A.Q.
How is this different from filtering reviews by a pricing tag?
Tags tell you a review mentions pricing or ads. This request goes a step further and reads each review to understand what the problem is, so you know which of the three types it belongs to and how to respond.
Can I compare my app with a competitor?
Yes, if the competitor is tracked in one of your workspaces. Name the competitor in your request, and the assistant compares the same complaint types for both apps.
Can I track this every month?
Yes. Ask for the same breakdown each month, and the assistant uses the same three types so the results are easy to compare.
