Overview

The Microsoft Console Integration allows you to receive and respond to user feedback directly from AppFollow. Through this integration, you get Xbox and Windows apps reviews delivered straight to the AppFollow interface, or to your preferred helpdesk system.

To integrate your Microsoft Console with AppFollow, you will need your Client ID, Client Secret (Key), and Client Tenant. In this article, you'll learn how to set up your Microsoft account, find the required codes, and set up the integration in AppFollow.

Set up Your Azure AD Tenant

If you already have an associated Azure AD Tenant, you can skip to the next step of this guide.

Before getting started with the Microsoft Console integration, make sure that your organization has an Azure Active Directory and you have Global administrator permissions for the directory.

If you already use Office 365 or other business services from Microsoft, you already have an Azure Active Directory. If you don't, you can create a new Azure AD in Partner Center for no additional charge.

To check whether your tenant is associated with the Microsoft Partner Center:

  1. Open Microsoft Partner Center.
  2. Click on the gear icon in the top-right corner and navigate to your Account Settings.
  3. Open the "Tenants" tab.
  4. If your Azure AD tenant is already associated with the Microsoft Partner account, you'll see it in the list of tenant associations.
  5. If you don't have any active Azure AD tenant associations, click on "Associate" and follow the steps on the screen.
  6. If you don't have an Azure Active Directory yet, click on "Create" to create one for free.

Associate an Application with the Partner Center

If you already have an associated Azure AD application, you can skip to the next step of this guide.

You must associate an Azure AD application with your Partner Center account to retrieve the Tenant ID and Client ID for the application and generate a Key. The Azure AD application represents the app or service from which you want to call the Microsoft Store reviews API. You only need to perform this task once. After you have the tenant ID, client ID, and key, you can reuse them any time you need to set up a new integration.

To associate an application with your Microsoft Partner Center account:

  1. Open Microsoft Partner Center.
  2. Click on the gear icon in the top-right corner and navigate to your Account Settings.
  3. Open the "User Management" tab.
  4. Switch to the "Azure AD applications" section.
  5. Select the required application from the list that appears. If you don't have any application, click "Create Azure AD application".

  6. Grant this application the Manager or Developer role.
  7. Click "Save".

The Marketer role is not sufficient for posting replies via a Client Secret. If you experience any issues with the Microsoft Console integration, please make sure that you have granted the application Manager or Developer permissions.

Find Your Client and Tenant ID

After you've added the Azure AD application, you're ready to find your Client ID and Tenant ID.

To find these values:

  1. Open Microsoft Partner Center.
  2. Click on the gear icon in the top-right corner and navigate to your Account Settings.
  3. Open the "User Management" tab.
  4. In the "Azure AD application" section, click on the required application.
  5. Copy the Client ID and Tenant ID from the application settings. You'll need these values when setting up the integration in AppFollow.

Create a Client Secret (Key)

A Client Secret (Key) is required to read and write data to Microsoft Azure AD. This will allow you to reply to reviews without leaving AppFollow. To find the Client Secret:

  1. Open Microsoft Partner Center.
  2. Click on the gear icon in the top-right corner and navigate to your Account Settings.
  3. Open the "User Management" tab.
  4. In the "Azure AD application" section, click on the required application.
  5. Click "Add new key" in the top-right corner of the pop-up that appears.

The key is shown only once. Make sure to copy it right away. If you forget the key, you'll need to create a new one.

  6. Now you're ready to set up the integration in AppFollow. In the next section of this article, we'll dive into the details.
  7. Please make sure that Secret key has infinitive expiration. If the expiration is in 12 months, then the integration would have to be reset every year.

Set up the Microsoft Console Integration
